Having spent all of my working life as a Professional Photographer, retirement has enabled me to explore more fully my personal interests in photography which I have enjoyed for almost 60 years. In these days of high-resolution, instant digital imaging, my favourite medium is still black and white, but more importantly it must be of the highest quality, and vitally retain the security of archival permanence.
Ironically, modern technology does not help in reaching this goal, as most digital images are focused on speed of access and most print outs they produce will more than likely fade rapidly in time. However, after I recent researched into a number of older style “alternative imaging” techniques, including Gum Bichromate, Bromoil and Oil Printing, I came across new methods of producing beautiful images that will more than likely last forever! My current favourite being the “Rawlins Oil Print” method - image samples you can see below.
